"Let's do our best, even if it gets us nowhere." Henry Miller

Welcoming diversity is not the same as embracing and including differences. Although many educational environments appear to welcome diversity, systemic resistance to changing education paradigms, and to meaningfully include different voices, perspectives and experiences in the everyday business of classrooms and meeting rooms mean that marginalized students and professionals remain outside the circle. In addition to the usual workplace challenges, everyday decisions for "minority" educators usually include deciding whether to fit in and go with the flow, or to use their voices and once again be audibly as well as visibly different.
